Whereas one can do his/her stargazing through the panorama roof of others, this is built into the Rolls-Royce Wraith as a standard fitting. Thus, it stands there on a bright day with 1340, not really noticeable, fibre-optic light conductors in the ceiling. Of course, a glass roof can also be ordered, which doesn't cost as much as the €10.000 that the piece of lighting-art does.
Had they had even considered the possibility of a coupé, when they decided to have the doors opening to the front? Probably not, since this is definitely not the best choice for admittance to the absolutely usable rear seating. The doors are enormous, however, they are equipped with an electric closing mechanism. This is very practical because once you're sitting comfortably, you can't reach the wide open door.
When speaking about the Rolls-Royce, the 102 years old Emily (I beg your pardon: The Spirit of Ecstasy), has been the subject of discussion. Hardly anyone takes any notice of the emblem on the top of the grill, which is only mounted right at the end. There are similar ones on the wheels, thus constructed that even when the wheels are turning, the emblem remains in the same, upright position. Unbelievable, the amount of effort applied. The carpeting is that thick, that a 1 € coin could easily be lost it.
One can no longer use the workshops in Crewe. They belong to Bentley. Nevertheless, new things were quickly being developed in Goodwood. The largest piece of motor car-veneer in the world was produced here. If necessary, it could be improved right down to the smallest detail, where mother-nature alone couldn't provide the necessary perfection. It's actually a pity, that, in the leatherwork department, the smells can't be transmitted by television.
The Wraith is a strange mixture of various technological stages. Although it was already on the market in 2013, it's gearbox could already communicate with the satellites and select the correct gear for the forthcoming stretch of road, allegedly something taken over from the Formula 1. On the other hand, due to the lack of lightweight construction, it's coachwork still weighs in at 2.360 kg.
Apparently the car is still particularly light-footed. Never before has a Rolls-Royce had such a powerful engine. Thus, the rolling dynamics have been provided for. As far as the cross-dynamics are concerned, the owners of a Rolls prefer to glide along effortlessly, thanks to the air-suspension with Active-Roll-Stabilization, which will, in the future, probably also be guided by satellites.
There are still more supporting assistants, e.g., when manoeuvring the car, after all, the Fastback-Coupé does have a length of almost 5,3 meters. Indeed, despite the traditional, and here also realised high sitting position, this dream-boat is probably still difficult to manoeuvre around. This is why it is assisted by cameras, although in contrast to the Google-Earth-cars, they are very well concealed. 08/14
